Fertile Library to Host Wellness Programs

0Comments

Join the Fertile Public Library for a program focused on mental health featuring a specialist from Wellness in the Woods.

Introduction to Peer Networks
Wednesday, August 24 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m.
Join us for an information program hosted by Renee Cardarelle of Wellness in the Woods, who will share information about Peer Specialists. Peer Specialists support people who have lived mental health and substance use experiences. They are not psychiatrists or counselors, but are instead people who have their own lived mental health and/or substance disorders and have been trained in how to support others with these experiences. They offer compassionate and caring environments for individuals who need support. At this session we will learn about the nightly warmline available 5 pm to 9 am and the daily VPSN (Virtual Peer Support Network) sessions, group zoom meetings with special guest speakers and opportunities to talk about daily challenges.

Learn what a Peer Specialist is, how they help others in the community and resources to support people struggling with lived mental health and substance use experiences. We will also do a short visit with VPSN and check out their program virtually.

Find out more about their organization at mnwitw.org. Wellness in the Woods Peer Support Services are free for all.
