Sen. Mark Johnson was supposed to take Crookston Cathedral School's sixth grade class on a tour of the state Capitol, but due to the COVID-19 crisis, the class had to settle for a virtual tour using Zoom computer software.

In a Facebook post, Johnson thanked the students for inviting him and said he was thankful for the chance to give the virtual tour.

"Thank you Crookston Cathedral School's Mrs. Smith and sixth grade class for inviting me to be part of your virtual class trip. I am so sorry I wasn't able to show you around our beautiful state Capitol in person, but it was so good to share with you over Zoom. I still remember senate majority leader Sen. Roger Moe and Rep. Bernie Leader taking time to talk to my Mentor sixth grade class in 1996 on the steps leading to the senate chamber. It is one of my favorite parts of the job and I'm sure it was theirs too. Although it's a poor substitute for being in St. Paul, if you have a class that was going but had to cancel, give me a call or email and I would gladly give a virtual tour and talk with the class," Johnson's post read.
