City of East Grand Forks issued the following announcement on July 30.
To remind motorists about the hands-free law and to help educate the public on the importance of driving smart, law enforcement agencies including the East Grand Forks Police Department will participate in extra distracted driving enforcement.
This extra enforcement will be from August 1st through August 8th. The hands-free law went into effect on August 1, 2019 and does allow drivers to use their phones by voice command or single touch activation without holding the phone.
