Minnesota ranked second-lowest in a recent WalletHub study that evaluated equality between Black and white students in educational progress throughout the 50 states.
The six dimensions evaluated were the number of adults with at least a high school diploma, number of adults with at least a four-year degree, standardized test scores, mean SAT score, average ACT score and public high school graduation rate.
Minnesota received a score of 21.58 out of 100.
Even though Brown v. Board of Education resulted in a ruling that integrated public schools, many school districts remain segregated racially and economically. School districts with mostly white students receive $23 billion more in annual funding than school districts with majority non-white students, according to The Center Square. This can lead to unequal educational outcomes.
The least educational disparities between Black and white students was found in Wyoming, which received a score of 75.03. Wisconsin had the lowest score and the most inequality between Black and white students at 13.44.
