After the Office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison gave a warning regarding a Make America Great Again (MAGA) event featuring Eric Trump, the Republican Party of Minnesota responded by alleging Ellison was abusing his power.
"Attorney General Keith Ellison is once again using his office to play politics,” a statement from state party chair Jennifer Carnahan read. “His team called and threatened a local family owned farm for hosting a private MAGA event with Eric Trump this afternoon.”
The event was scheduled to be held on Oct. 13 at Felton Farms in Northfield, according to a later press release announcing a press conference prior to the event.
Carnahan stated in the initial release that private gatherings do not require paperwork to be filed with the state.
"The abuse of power and control from certain elected officials in Minnesota is infringing on the rights of our citizens,” Carnahan said in the statement. "The Republican Party of Minnesota will make sure that Minnesotans are aware of elected officials abusing their power. We are filing a cease-and-desist order with the Attorney General's Office and we will continue to hold them accountable."
