University of Minnesota, Crookston issued the following announcement.
It was back at home for the Golden Eagles men's basketball team, who was looking to make it two straight wins, as they played host to the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Dragons used a scorching-hot second half to come back from two down at the half to defeat the Golden Eagles, 91-68.

For the third straight game, the Golden Eagles got off to a fast start. Ethan Channel (Jr., G, Beaverton, Ore.) scored four of the first six points and Ibu Jassey Demba (Sr., F, Birmingham, England) scored a tough layup to put the Golden Eagles up 6-0.
The game would continue to be back-and-forth, but the Dragons would zoom out to a 22-14 lead, forcing a Golden Eagle timeout.
The Golden Eagles would use the three ball to get right back into the game, with one from Jassey Demba and Josh Dilling (Fr., G, Oshkosh, Wis.). Leonard Dixon (Jr., F, Demascus, Ore.) would then go on a 7-0 run of his own to give the Golden Eagles back the lead at 27-22.
The game would continue to be back-and-forth, but the Golden Eagles would cut the Dragon lead to just two heading into the halftime break with yet another Dixon layup.
The second half would be all Dragons. The Dragons would score the first six points of the half, but Channel would halt the run with a layup.
MSUM would stretch their lead to 53-43, but Georges Darwiche (Jr., G, Bucharest, Romania) would hit one of his two threes in the contest to cut the lead to just seven.
Trailing 80-60, Minnesota Crookston would try and cut into the lead, with five straight points from Darwiche, but the Dragons would prove to be too much.
Key Stats
For the second straight week, the Golden Eagles would be balanced on the score sheet. The Golden Eagles were led by Darwiche with 15 and Channel with 14, which is a career-high for the junior college transfer. Channel also collected 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. Dixon would score a career-high as well with nine points on 4-6 shooting. Jassey Demba would score nine points also. Brian Sitzmann (R-Jr., G, Savage, Minn.) would add seven on the night.
For the Dragons, they were led by Jacob Beeninga's 22 points off the bench. Dane Zimmer (21 points) and Bryce Irsfeld (11 points) were the other two Dragon's in double-figures.
On the night, MSUM shot 51.6 percent from the field, while the Golden Eagles shot 51.8 percent from the field. The key number was the turnovers. Minnesota Crookston turned the ball over 22 times, which resulted in 27 Dragon points, while the Dragons turned it over just 10 times, which resulted in 13 Golden Eagle points.
Key Runs
The Golden Eagles would go on a 13-0 run midway through the first half, highlighted by Leonard Dixon, who scored seven of the 13 Golden Eagle points during that run.
The big run during the game would come way of the Dragons. MSUM would go on two separate big runs late in the second half to pull away from Minnesota Crookston.

Minnesota Crookston will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as these same two teams will do battle. The Dragons and Golden Eagles will tip-off tomorrow afternoon from Gary Senske Court at Lysaker Gymnasium at 1:30 p.m.
