Media Report 8.28.2022 – 9.3.2022
- On August 29th at 6:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of Hwy 59 near the bridge south of Mahnomen. A mini van was driving in the ditch, went onto the roadway and struck a semi, and then drove back into the ditch. The driver of the van left the scene of the accident on foot. Utilizing surveillance camera footage an officer was able to find the driver in a hotel room at the Shooting Star Casino. The driver, Cody Hinden, 26, of Red Lake, admitted to driving the vehicle. He had active warrants for his arrest out of Mahnomen and Becker Counties. He was taken into custody.
- On August 30th at 2:02 p.m. officers responded to Main St in Mahnomen to assist a State Trooper calling for back up. Dylan Guinn, 30, of Mahnomen had assaulted a male and was not cooperating with the Trooper. Officers took Guinn to the ground and placed handcuffs on his wrists. Guinn was then taken into custody and transported to jail.
- On August 30th at 8:23 p.m. officers responded to the area near Bruggeman’s Super Valu parking lot for a report of kids on the rooftop next to Bruggeman’s throwing rocks at cars. The juveniles were located. One of them had an active warrant out for their arrest and they were taken into custody.
- On August 31st at 12:23 a.m. officers responded to a report of an assault on 1st St in Mahnomen. Upon arrival the officers learned that the incident was a verbal altercation and that one of the involved parties, Joseph Myhre, 23, of Mahnomen, had an active felony warrant for his arrest. The officers searched the area and located Myhre near the Park Terrace apartments. Upon making contact with Myhre he actively began to resist and fight law enforcement. Myhre was taken to the ground several times and a second law enforcement officer arrived to assist. Myhre was taken into custody.
- On September 1st at 2:48 p.m. the Twin Lakes Fire Department responded to a residence on Co Rd 4 near Elk Horn Resort for a report of a lawn mower on fire. The firefighters extinguished the fire and there was no damage to any structures on the property.
- On September 2nd at 7:03 p.m. officers and the Naytahwaush and White Earth Ambulances responded to a report of an ATV accident on Hwy 113 on the east side of Mahnomen County. A juvenile victim was ejected from the ATV and was not responsive. A short while later the victim was loaded into an ambulance and was responsive. The victim had non-life threatening injuries. There was no apparent cause of the accident other than the poor handling qualities of ATVs on pavement.
