City Of Roseau issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
Here's an important message for those snowmobile riders who are planning to use the trails between the Northwest Angle and Warroad!
We are grooming locally around NWA. We sent our other groomer up from Warroad as we knew the trail was rough. Between Queens Corner and Stony Point, as shown in the picture the groomer encountered a 6" wide crack and while traveling over the crack a pie piece of ice broke out due to the weight of groomer and drag.
We need 16" of ice for the 12,000lb groomer and we are at the lower limit. Groomer and operator are fine, but we parked the groomer off the trail in this area and staked off the area to allow snowmobiles to detour. Use extra caution in this area. We will have a more comprehensive update in a few days but wanted to share this important information now.
