MCA and MTAS: How many Marshall County Central School District students took their Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Marshall County Central School District ranked first in the Marshall County for test participation, with 248 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Marshall County Central School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 8.8% over the previous year.

Marshall County Central School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 54% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 16% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 49% not meeting the expected standards.

Marshall County Central School District encompasses schools within Marshall County and has a main office in Newfolden.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
