Stephen-Argyle Central School District secures second spot in student Math test participation in 2021-22 school year

Stephen-Argyle Central School District ranked second in the Marshall County for test participation, with 152 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Stephen-Argyle Central School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 5% from the previous year.

Stephen-Argyle Central School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 58% in 2021-22 school year.

Third grade students stood out with 39% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 39% not meeting the expected standards.

Stephen-Argyle Central School District encompasses schools within Marshall County and has a main office in Stephen.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
