MCA and MTAS: How many Fertile-Beltrami School District students took their Reading tests in 2021-22 school year?

Fertile-Beltrami School District ranked third in the Polk County for test participation, with 262 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Fertile-Beltrami School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 4% over the previous year.

Fertile-Beltrami School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 61% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 29% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, seventh grade students had the most room for improvement, with 35% not meeting the expected standards.

Fertile-Beltrami School District encompasses schools within Polk County and has a main office in Fertile.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
