Red Lake County Education: 764 students were enrolled in 2024-25 school year

There were 764 students enrolled in Red Lake County schools in the 2024-25 school year, 4.5% more than the previous year, according to reports from the Minnesota Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Red Lake County comprised 56.2% boys, with girls representing the remaining 43.8%.

Data also showed that white students made up 87.4% of the student body, the largest percentage in Red Lake County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 5.8%, 5% multiracial students, 1.4% American Indian students, 0.3% Black students and 0.1% Other Indigenous Peoples students.

J.A. Hughes Elementary had the highest enrollment among Red Lake County's five schools in the 2024-25 school year, welcoming 237 students.

With more than 870,000 students enrolled, Minnesota's public school system is the 10th-largest in the United States. As of 2025 the student-to-teacher ratio in the state’s public schools is 15 to 1, on par with the national average.
