Thief River Falls School District ranked first in the Pennington County for test participation, with 964 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Thief River Falls School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year fell by 1.4% from the previous year.

Thief River Falls School District’s students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 48% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 18% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.
