A new study by WalletHub has ranked Minnesota's tourism industry as suffering the 41st highest in the nation from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The study used two aspects to rank states: Dependency on travel and tourism and the state's aggressiveness against the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Center Square.
Minnesota ranked 44th for the "State Dependency on Travel & Tourism" category and 20th in the "State Aggressiveness Against Coronavirus” category.
An analysis from the U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics has showed that 5.9 million U.S. residents could lose their jobs as a result of the coronavirus and the shutdowns that come with it, according to the Center Square. WalletHub reported that stimulus money could help with the job loss and travel-related businesses.
WalletHub said it included all 50 states and the District of Columbia in its study, with Hawaii's tourism industry being affected the greatest by the pandemic, according to the Center Square.
