The Marvin Home Center recently hosted a grand opening weekend at its location at 104 State Ave. in Warroad, Minnesota.
According to an Ace Hardware press release, 75% of people in the U.S. live within a 15-minute drive of an Ace Hardware store. The Marvin Home Center carries a range of brands, including Scotts, STIHL, Big Green Egg, Milwaukee, Ben Moore, Yeti, Weber and Traeger. The store offers an array of services, including color paint matching, assembly, key cutting, delivery, rental and propane exchange.
Ryan Jensen, owner of Marvin Home Center, said he has spent the last 20 years with big-box home improvement stores.
“It started out as a college job and turned into a very fruitful career,” he told NW Minnesota News. “My experience ranged from running stores in metropolitan areas to very rural locations.”
Jensen said he has always enjoyed the building and hardware industry since working in construction at a young age.
“In 2020, Marvin Windows recruited me to come to Warroad, Minnesota, to help transform the Marvin Home Center,” he said. “We were looking for a way to bring the business forward and found it with Ace as our partner.”
Jensen said that he had the chance to choose his supplier with the rebranding they were doing with the Marvin Home Center.
“Ace was very familiar to me, since we were constantly chasing them for the J.D. Power award with my previous employer,” he said. “Ace had been courting us for a while, and it just seemed like the right fit this time. I really enjoy the e-commerce platforms available to us, as well as the analytics.”
Jensen noted that Marvin Home Center partners with the MAX Foundation, which supports mental health awareness among youths.
“We are very active in the community,” he said. “We support almost every fundraiser and community event in Warroad and surrounding areas.”
Jensen added that the store also is tackling the housing crisis head-on in the community by building and selling 15-plus homes a year in Warroad.
“We are very active in the Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, Warroad Community Development, Warroad Housing Revitalization Project and City Council,” he said.
Jensen explained that the focus of Marvin Home Center is to serve the community. “We are part of a much bigger family owned company that really wants a place where everyone can get what they need locally,” he said.
