CITY OF FOSSTON: Winter Issues for Code Compliance

Snowt

City of Fosston issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

With the change in seasons upon us, the City offers the

following suggestions and reminders for Fosston residents:

City ordinance requires that every occupant of property and every owner of unoccupied property abutting on a city side-walk must keep the sidewalk clear of snow and ice.Removing the snow and ice from your walks is a gesture of caring and respect for your neighbors and community. Sidewalks provide a safe route for senior citizens, school children, your neighbors, and probably your family. Please don’t let snow pileup.

Customers of the Fosston Municipal Utilities must keep all meters accessible for the meter reader or you may be subject to a $10 service fee. Please keep a path shoveled to the utility meters.

It is a violation of the City Parking Ordinance to park a

vehicle or trailer on any street after a snowfall. All vehicles must be moved to allow for snow plowing. All vehicles interfering with snow plowing operations will be ticketed and if they are not moved, will be subject to towing and impound. It is also a violation to park a vehicle or permit it to stand on any street in the City for any continuous period in excess of 24 hours. Please help us increase the safety of our workers and the public by complying with this request.
